Taking your place in Prayer

The air was rich with praises going up to God – and the atmosphere seemed electric with His anointing. As I walked into the large room, I looked around. There were a few men, but the majority of people in the room were women.

Wow, I thought. This is interesting.

There is not a more necessary work in the kingdom of God than prayer. It involves many things. Praising, worshipping, listening for direction, following direction, sharing insights, and decreeing the Word of God. I love to see so many women flocking to this all-important aspect of God’s kingdom.

This is where things happen in God’s Kingdom.

Think about it. God created the world through the speaking of His Word. Everything that we see was created out of things which we don’t see – namely the Word of God. (Hebrews 11:3)

Jesus was planted in the womb of Mary when she received the Word. (Luke 1:38)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. .Jesus was the Word of God. (John 1:14)

Wrapped up in all of this understanding of prayer is the realization of how God works through it. He still is changing things – in your heart, in your family, and in the world around you.

And he is still using His spoken words to make many of those changes.

So as a woman of prayer, we praise, worship and listen. We pour out our hearts and listen, asking for answers. And we begin to receive direction. God speaks to us personally. He shares certain scriptures with us and He gives us insight as to which way to pray. Then we follow His leading. Often we will declare the scriptures out loud, with others agreeing. Sometimes, our leading is in a quieter vein.

Either way, we know that we are working with God to bring about His purposes in the earth.

Women are very prone to spiritual things, and that is why we see so many more of them praying.

Now don’t get me wrong, men are extremely spiritual, and some of the most powerful prayer warriors I know are men.

But many women excel here.

As people continue in the practice of prayer as mentioned here, some benefits ensue, inevitably. These women grow in their ability to hear from God. They grow in their faith. And they grow in their confidence as to their own identity in God’s Kingdom.

No longer do they see themselves as victims of their circumstances. They see themselves as victorious. They realize that for every problem there is an answer – and their heavenly Father is the One with the answers they need. They also see that change comes as they work with God in bringing His Word into the earth.

Over the years, I have seen many ladies who came to God with heads bowed low and very little hope in their hearts. They approached God at first as whiners, with a “why me?” mentality. Then they started to pray and their hearts began to change. Hope started to arise and faith followed. They heard their Father speaking to them personally, and that really kicked off an upsurge of confidence in prayer.

Next, the answers started rolling in, and at that point there was no stopping them. These women changed in every sense. When you met them, they were full of joy and expectation. Their prayers were being answered, and they were hearing from God in a new way.

These women had taken their place in prayer, and the results were evident for all to see.
